On June 21-22, 2010, the 2^nd Science and Technology Innovation Conference of CEEDI was held in Beijing, and more than 140 people including Mr. Wang Tiehong, Director of the General Office of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China (MOHURD), Mr. Shi Hongxiang, Vice President and the member of the Party Leadership Group of State Development & Investment Corp. (SDIC) and other department leaders, leaders of China Machinery Exploration & Design Association, Architectural Society of China and Chinese Institute of Electronics, leaders of CEEDI, and members of its Party Committee as well as leaders and technical backbones of its companies attended the conference. Mr. Lou Yu, Vice President and Chief Engineer of CEEDI presided over the conference.

Mr. Shi Hongxiang, Vice President and the member of the Party Leadership Group of SDIC Group delivered an opening speech, saying that the financial hastened a new round of technological advance while frustrating the global economy, which made the competition between companies transform to scrambling for scientific research achievements and competing for scientific research achievements conversion and technology talents. He gave information that SDIC Group increased investment in scientific innovation and attached more importance to cultivation and selection of technological innovation talents in recent years, making great achievements in scientific research innovation. He also stressed that CEEDI had realized balanced and rapid development of its three major business segments, stable operation of its three scientific platforms and orderly implementation of its three strategies on the basis of complementary advantages since its cooperation with SDIC Group. At last, he expressed his hope on CEEDI’s future in 7 aspects.

Mrs. Hu Ping, the President and Secretary of Party Committee of CEEDI made a report titled Giving Priority to Technological Investment Development Strategy and Speeding up Transformation of Economic Growth Mode , making analysis on international and domestic development environment and emphasizing that CEEDI should get hold of the development principle, make innovation on development mode, adjust development pace, highlight economic efficiency and realize scientific development in compliance with the speech that Mr. Hu Jintao, General Secretary of The CPC Central Committee made in the Fifteenth Academician Conference of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and according to the requirements of Mr. Wang Huisheng, Chairman of SDIC Group. Mrs. Hu Ping pointed out that CEEDI had made achievements in open innovation, realizing the optimization and development of industry technologies, talent structures and market customers as well as the increasing growth of business performance by promoting technological innovation with mechanism innovation and upholding the philosophy “Following the Strategy and Seeking for Change”. Adhering to the idea of open innovation and responsibility assessment and insisting on “Building Platform for Innovation and Attracting Talents to Strengthen CEEDI”, CEEDI attached importance to independent technology research, built open platform for innovation, set up innovative work mode, paid attention to traditional industry upgrading, laid stress on the function of leaders, speeded up technological innovation and application and finally realized technical breakthrough through internal and external integration. She also emphasized that CEEDI will continue making efforts in scientific and technological advance so as to get hold of development opportunity and initiative, enhancing its technological innovation in the key field, intensifying scientific research, promoting the strategy on talents introducing and carrying out open innovation. At last, she called on the whole CEEDI members to grasp the opportunity and make scientific plans so as to improve the development quality, expand development space, broaden development road, acquire development opportunity and make steps toward the bright future by connecting technological innovation with national development strategy and the economic and social development goals and relying on the strong support from SDIC Group as well as technological progress. Mr. Lou Yu, Vice President and Chief Engineer of CEEDI delivered a report on technological innovation titled Making Use of Advantage, Integrating Resources and Creating Future, making a conclusion and an outlook on the technological innovation of CEEDI and pointing out its great achievements in making scientific research innovation, establishing the three platforms and implementing the three strategies. According to him, CEEDI will specify the direction and build a solid foundation for its scientific and sustainable development according to the national development plan and the strategic plan of SDIC Group.

Mr. Wang Tiehong, Director of the General Office of MOHURD made a report named Development Mode Transformation in the Field of Infrastructure Construction and Enterprise Development Strategy, and Mr. Meng Xiang’en, Chairman of China Machinery Exploration & Design Association and Mr. Zhou Chang, Secretary General of Architectural Society of China also addressed the conference. In addition, CEEDI invited its benchmarking company to give an introduction on technological innovation experience, and some of its departments and companies also shared their experience.

President Hu Ping, Director Wang Tiehong and Vice President Shi Hongxiang unveiled plagues for C+E Center for Engineering Research Test & Appraisal and Postdoctor R&D Workstation respectively in the conference, commending the winners of the first Creation Contribution Award and Excellent Scientific Innovation Achievement Award of CEEDI.

Technology as well as independent innovation ability are the essential factors to win opportunities and initiative in modern society. As Mrs. Hu Ping says that one cannot survive or go forward without innovation, CEEDI has succeeded in forming its core competitiveness by virtue of independent technology. The conference, cohesive and inspiring, overviewed CEEDI’s development experience in the past 4 years, pointed out its development direction and made a plan for its future.
