In recent years, our institute (CEEDI) has been actively carrying out its development strategy, stepping up efforts in independent innovation, energetically developing the field of energy conservation and seeking for new economic growth point. In 2006, CEEDI set up Beijing Century Yuanbo R&D Co., Ltd., an energy-saving technical service provider with new technology R&D as driving force, system integration as means and kinds of small-sized exhaust heat power plants as products.

Since its foundation, Century Yuanbo has been devoted itself to the field of low-grade exhaust heat recycling. By actively utilizing technologies under independent intellectual property rights, the company turns the exhaust heat in industrial production through recycling device into superheated vapor or saturated steam to drive turbine. This achieves the conversion of thermal energy to mechanical energy and then drives generator to generate power, thus effectively recycles the large amount of exhaust heat in industrial production process. Reducing energy waste and environmental pollution and preventing the acceleration of greenhouse effect, the recycling for enterprise is an important way to lower energy consumption, raise energy efficiency, cut production costs and improve overall economic and social benefits. Currently, this technology has been widely used in such sectors as nonferrous metal, steel, building materials, petrochemical, chemical and textile, creating a number of “firsts” both internationally and domestically and filling lots of technology gaps of low-grade exhaust heat utilization in China. The company in succession undertook following projects: the world’s first electric furnace fume low temperature exhaust heat power plant - Guangzhou Zhujiang Steel Co., Ltd. Electric Furnace Fume Energy Comprehensive Utilization Project; the world’s first steelmaking converter exhaust heat power plant - Jinan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. No.1 Steel Plant Converter Saturated Steam Exhaust Heat Power Plant; China’s first sintering low temperature exhaust heat power plant under fully independent intellectual property rights- Wugang Group Kunming Steel & Iron Co., Ltd. No. 3 Sintering Plant Exhaust Heat Power Plant; China’s largest integrated low-temperature exhaust heat power plant- Chongqing Steel & Iron Co., Ltd. Environmental Relocation Project Exhaust Heat Comprehensive Utilization Sub-Project; and so on. It has built up a power plant that has been put into production and can generate 262.5 million kwh of electricity annually, equal to saving 93,200 tons of standard coal and reducing the emission of 204,500 tons of carbon dioxide annually. Relying on independently innovated technologies, Century Yuanbo has become a domestically famous industrial energy conversation expert and a foregoer of low carbon economy.

Now, Century Yuanbo has achieved expansive and breakthrough development in terms of technology, market, matching funds and project implementation. In order to ensure its leading position in energy conservation industry, the company has always been regarding technological innovation as source of development. It, together with the Mechanics Institute of the Chinese Science Academy, established low-grade exhaust heat recycling research laboratory. They jointly undertook national 863 Program “Low-Grade Exhaust Heat Power Generation Technology and Device Development” and established technology conversation base to constantly convert new technological achievements. They have gradually achieved the standardization of the main components of power plant equipment, the reduction of repeats and the improvement of efficiency. Currently, the company has formed a company-based and market-oriented scientific innovation system featuring the combination among production, study and research, and established and completed a series of outstanding low-grade exhaust heat utilization achievements in each field, with technological achievements accepted on market and performance leading in China.

China puts forwards its first strategic goal of energy conservation and emissions reduction in the 11^th Five-Year Plan, which is an important measure of scientific outlook on development and building harmonious socialist society as well as an inevitable choice for the establishment of resource-saving and environment-friendly society. Firmly seizing the opportunity that Chinese Government energetically advocates energy conservation and emissions reduction, Century Yuanbo, on the basis of positive participation and active investment, has been committed to becoming the innovation subject of energy conservation and emissions reduction technologies and promoted the effective implementation of energy conservation and emissions reduction policies. Through constant independent technology researches and developments, Century Yuanbo makes efforts in forging itself into an industrial energy conservation expert and has won the praise and trust by customers. It is believed that, in the future, Century Yuanbo will certainly continue to carry out energy conservation and emissions reduction technology innovation, and rely on independently developed technologies to further promote the smooth realization of energy conservation and emissions reduction goal.
