The Saudi Arabia Pavilion design team and Mr. Wang Zhenjun from CEEDI were awarded the honorary titles of “Honorable Team” and “Honorable Inpidual” for Central State-owned Enterprises’ Participation in Expo 2010 Shanghai at the Summary and Commendatory Conference for Central State-owned Enterprises’ Participation in Expo 2010 Shanghai, held by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) at 10:00 A.M., February 25, 2011. Mr. Deng Shiji, Member & Discipline Inspection Panel Head of the Party Committee of the State Development & Investment Corp (SDIC), and Mr. Wang Zhenjun, General Engineer of CEEDI attended the conference. Chen Dechun (Vice President and Party Committee Member of SDIC), leaders of the relevant departments of SDIC, Wang Hong (Vice Secretary of the Party Committee & Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Panel of CEEDI) and some members of Saudi Arabia Pavilion design team from CEEDI attended the video sub-conference held by SDIC.

At the conference, a large number of central state-owned enterprises and inpiduals that have made outstanding contributions and achieved excellent performance in Expo 2010 Shanghai were rewarded and awarded certificates and honorary credentials and Mr. Wang Yong, Director of SASAC, delivered an important speech. In Expo 2010, a grand conference focused on by millions of people, the Saudi Arabia Pavilion designed by CEEDI was one of the self-constructed pavilions with the largest scale and investments among pavilions in Expo 2010 and the only self-constructed pavilion independently designed by a Chinese design institute. During the 184 days for Expo exhibitions, Saudi Arabia Pavilion became a pavilion most popular with foreign and domestic tourists as well as the media. The population density index ranked top all the time and the duration for queuing even exceeded 12 hours at one time. During the exhibitions, Party and State leaders including President Hu Jintao visited Saudi Arabia Pavilion and set a high appraisal to the Pavilion. CCTV, Xinhua Press and China Daily, etc. have covered the pavilion for several times.

The design team of Saudi Arabia Pavilion from CEEDI, led by Mr. Wang Zhenjun, was fully recognized and highly praised by the Saudi Arabia government, foreign and domestic tourists and the media due to their innovation spirit, earnest and responsible working attitude. Finally, Saudi Arabia Pavilion obtained prizes including Gold Medal for Creativity Display of Expo 2010, Best Show Prize of Tencent, Best Top 10 Pavilion, and Top Pavilion for Chinese Business Magazine and Top 10 Pavilion in the First Real Estate of First Financial. Meanwhile, the exquisite creativity and energy conservation concept of the Pavilion successfully display the glamour of Chinese architects on the world stage and win honors for China, making Chinese design respected, praised and acclaimed by the people all over the world. It is reported that the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination has decided to reserve five pavilions including Saudi Arabia, which will be reopened to the public soon.

The honors awarded by SASAC to the Saudi Arabia Pavilion design team from CEEDI are not only recognition but also encouragement on the efforts of CEEDI in the Expo 2010 Shanghai. We will continuously intensify our sustainable innovation and development, gradually improves our business capability and technical skills, play the roles of technological innovation, technical services and engineering construction management platform in SDIC and make our contributions to construct SDIC into a world-class investment holding company.
